Film Description

Lasse and his son Pelle seek their fortunes in Denmark. They find that life is no better there where they end up sleeping on a straw bed in the cold barn of a brutally insensitive farmer. Based on the first part of Nexo's 4-part novel about the adventures of turn of the century Swedish emigrants, this is a brilliantly moving film, tender and brutal by turns.
