Film Description

Based on the memoirs of the infamous Gypsy Rose Lee and the Arthur Laurent's broadway play, Gypsy follows a pushy stage mother whose sole ambition is to see her daughters succeed on the stage. Rose is crushed when June, her younger more talented daughter runs away to get married and so decides to devote all her energies into making sure her older, previously neglected, daughter Louise should succeed in her place. To her mother’s dismay, the only way Louise manages to make an impact on stage, however, is by working her way up as a burlesque dancer until she becomes the headlining stripper and a success in her own right. Includes the unforgettable songs ‘Everything’s Coming Up Roses’, ’Let Me Entertain You’ and ‘Some People’.
