Film Description

The notorious film that shot a then 12 year-old Brooke Shields to fame, in which she stars as Violet, the daughter of a prostitute, who becomes fascinated by a visiting photographer in New Orleans, 1917. The frequent shots of Shields in the nude and the sequence in which her virginity is auctioned off proved controversial, but the film is admired and won the Technical Grand Prize at Cannes.
