Film Description

Nastassja Kinski gives one of her best performances here as Maria, who eagerly accepts a proposal of marriage from her teenage sweetheart Ivan when he returns home from WWII. But Ivan has been traumatised by the war and cannot consummate their marriage, sending Maria into the arms of other men.
