This is a very welcome issue indeed. The previous DVD incarnations of Paul Verhoeven's intelligent but highly exciting version of a tale by the ultimate cult SF writer Philip K. Dick were distinctly below par: non-anamorphic, zero extras. All that is remedied here, with a deluxe two-disc set supplying the ultimate audiovisual treat (along with copious extras). If you're convinced that an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie can't deal with ideas along with the thickear stuff, give this one a try. In line with Dick's original, Schwarzenegger's blue-collar hero is obliged to think himself out of dangerous situations just as often as he uses his fists. And as a vision of a disturbing future society, the film shows quite as much imagination as the director did in the equally impressive Robocop. < less
