A French Mistress

Film Description

The arrival of the new French teacher is quite a shock for Headmaster Crane (Cecil Parker) of Melbury Public School for Boys when a Master turns out to be a Mistress. Her effect on the school’s rigidly masculine atmosphere is galvanising. Madeleine Lafarge’s (Agnes Laurent) attributes are considerable and soon the head boy, the headmaster’s son (Ian Bannen) and half the school are in love with her. Discipline begins to crumble and it soon becomes apparent that the School Governors will have to take decisive action. A rebellion amongst the pupils is inevitable….
