Film Description

This Oscar-nominated story follows the story of Mario, a shy and simple-minded postman on a remote Italian island, who forms a friendship with exiled 'poet of love' Pablo Neruda. Relaxed and easy humour and winning performances, particularly from the excellent Noiret as the grumpy but likeable poet, make this a charming, good natured delight where sentimentality and recourse to picturesque postcard shots are admirably kept at bay.
