A Farewell To Arms / Meet John Doe

Various , 1932 -41

Film Description

A pairing of films starring Gary Cooper. 'Farewell to Arms' (Frank Borzage, 1932) is based on Ernest Hemingway's novel and tells of the love between an ambulance driver and a nurse. In 'Meet John Doe' (Frank Capra, 1941) Barbara Stanwyck plays a fired journalist who, as a parting shot, prints a fake letter from unemployed 'John Doe', threatening suicide in protest at social ills. Soon, the made-up 'John Doe' starts a political movement.
