Film Description

Classic romantic drama starring Marlene Dietrich as Madeleine de Beaupre (Dietrich), a crafty and calculating jewel thief. After smuggling some valuable pearls away from a Parisian jeweller, Madeleine attempts to leave the country, framing psychiatrist Dr. Pauquet (Alan Mowbray) in the process. While going through Spanish Customs, Madeleine bumps into Tom Bradley (Gary Cooper), an American tourist. She slips the pearls into Tom's pocket, worried that the customs officers will discover them in her handbag. After the pair safely make their way over the border, Madeleine flirts with Tom in an attempt to get the pearls back. It doesn't take long for Tom to figure out what Madeleine is up to but his attraction towards her forces him to play along.
