The Ipcress File
DVD £8.99 RRP £15.99 You save £7.00 (43%)
Film Description A stylishly laconic thriller set in seedy 1960s London. Sent on a dangerous mission, Harry Palmer's life is on the line. The first of Caine's appearances as Deighton's spy, he brings a cocky charm to his dealings with the Old School, while Furie brings flash and panache to the espionage movie.

Review by Barry Forshaw on 31st January 2006 A much-loved movie gets the deluxe treatment in this superlative edition. The chances of Len Deighton's remarkable novel being as intelligently rendered as this were mixed, but in the event, Sydney Furie turned in a remarkable job – now even the occasionally criticised mannerisms of the director’s visual style have acquired a classical veneer. And (Caine apart), look at that supporting cast: Nigel Green and Guy Doleman, for instance, matchless as Palmer’s bosses The special features of this package include the digitally remastered movie in the original 2.35:1 aspect ratio, a commentary with director Furie and film editor Peter Hunt, and interviews with star Michael Caine and production designer Ken Adam – plus a slew of other tempting extras.
