Film Description

Quintessential Ealing comedy that celebrates both community solidarity and benign anarchy. A great idea too, rich in comic possibilities, as the citizens of Pimlico discover their hereditary independence from Britain and set up their own state, quickly responding to the onset of rationing and sanctions with some wittily effective bureaucratic measures of their own. A charm.
