Film Description

Frank Borzage's drama is the original, highly acclaimed film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's 1929 novel about the poignant, ill-fated wartime romance between an American paramedic and an English nurse in WWI.

The result is one of the most touching and unsentimental evocations of sexual love in all cinema. Wounded in Italy in WWI, a young man falls in love with a young nurse, eventually going AWOL to find her again. Hemingway was never done so proud.
